My Whole New World

big adventure; day 8

current location: Orlando, Polynesian Inn

it’s been 8 days since i left montreal! hadn’t had time to upload photos because i’m still doing my 15 pages AP final exam essay which is due in like 1.5 hrs but i’m only 2 pgs one. that’s why i’m stuck in the Inn’s kitchen (cause there’s no wifi in the room, haha).

but all is good, will be even better when i finish the essay later.

Disney World on monday! =)) can’t wait.

start of a big adventure (day 1)

school officially ended on the 21st of April after my final management skills paper. spent my last week in Montreal catching up with the few good friends we’ve met and to  become a tourist once more by visiting the remaining tourist spots that we haven’t had a chance to go to.

so just like that, we bid our home for 4 months goodbye and embarked on a 1.5 months long adventure with all our belongings on our back. bad idea. lugging 2 bags and 1 luggage each to the amtrak station was no joke. seriously. we look like a walking hambuger with one bag in front and one at the  back, dragging a big luggage. after much effort, we reached amtrak station 1hr ahead of our boarding time. all was good, until it was time to board the train. When it was our turn to go in, the officer realised that our ticket was for 23rd MAY 2010 instead of 23rd APRIL. god. O.O. stupid me, bought tickets for the wrong month. so she said, “go to the amtrak counter and see what they can do. you have 10 mins” it was a horrible feeling, especially we had one of our lugguage put on the train in advance.

Luckily we managed to change the ticket for an additional 20 bucks. train ride was uneventful, just slept alot. passing the custom was great cuz we didn’t have to carry all our bags down, and the custom officer was (surprisingly) very nice.

then the nightmare came when we had to carry our bags from the penn station to our hostel. god, that was horrible. the walk felt like it was forever. the hostel said it was a short walk away from the subway but it was certainly nowhere near short.

after what seemed like eternity, we finally reached the hostel. thankfully, the hostel is nice and has an elevator. *phew*

so after sharing a medium pizza, and taking a hot shower here i am, ready to slp. room had no wifi thou so i’m downstairs in the quite cool communal area with a pool table, tennis table, tv room and music. maybe i’ll take pics tmr when i’m not so tired.

goodnite. =)

I went to the largest church in Montreal yesterday, St Joseph’s Oratory sitting on the south side of Mount Royal. From the outside, the church looks massive but the inside, the basilica was breath taking. I’m no catholic or even christian but even i was humbled and touched by the presence in the basilica.

i did not even know what i was supposed to do or how to react but i went and sat down at one of the rows anyway. The solitary and calm was welcoming.

i left the place a happier person. =)
